Sport and physical education develops children's skills and understanding so they can perform with increasing confidence and competence in a range of activities.
It is vital that children compete, no matter their ability, and learn about success, failure, teamwork and sportsmanship.
Every pupil has the opportunity to engage, progress and enjoy sport at Oakfield. We aim to nurture and develop a wide range of sporting interests, all rooted in the values of fair play and respect for each other.
We enable pupils to excel at the highest levels through sports squads led by our Sports Development Coach.
These include squads in the following sports; Football, Gymnastics, Swimming, Hockey, Netball and Cross Country Running and Athletics.
In Spring 2020 our U11 Girls Netball Team (see right) won the ISA London South Regional Championships to qualify for the National Championships which was a fantastic achievement by all.
Children have many opportunities to represent the school in various sporting teams, thus instilling respect, cooperation and an understanding of the importance of teamwork, as well as a sense of healthy competition.
In addition to the sports listed above friendlies are arranged to enable children to represent the school at Rugby and we also offer Tennis with the arrival of Summer.
The extensive fixture list across multiple sports mean that from Year 3 upwards all children are involved in fixtures at Oakfield and can represent the school to the best of their abilities at least once a term.
The sports teachers encourage and celebrate every member of the team
Sport should always be a positive experience, win or lose, and is an important step in ensuring children maintain a healthy lifestyle. Exercise boosts self-esteem, happiness and confidence and we will always support children finding sports and activities that they love.
