A very warm welcome to Oakfield!
Here at Oakfield Preparatory School, we are proud of our aspirational and nurturing learning environment that helps prepare pupils for their future. We are committed to supporting each child on their own individual journey, in a setting that blends our rich history in the heart of West Dulwich with modern educational practices.
Our skilled and talented staff work in close partnership with families to ensure that from the very first steps of learning to read and write, to preparing for the transition to Senior School each child is challenged and supported with their own strengths and needs in mind.
We recognise that every child is different, with their own interests, skills, strengths and achievements to celebrate. We take a personalised approach each step of your child’s journey and are ideally placed within the community to ensure that we support each family from day one through to finding the right setting for their child at 11+.
We do not know what the future will hold for our children, so we ensure that their education is broad, ambitious and provides them with knowledge and skills to thrive in an unknown world. Our curriculum strikes a balance between developing core skills in literacy and numeracy and specialist teaching in a wide variety of subjects. Pupils are encouraged to learn through discovery and develop independence from an early age. This culminates in the Year 6 Diploma, where pupils undertake their own extended project in their final year at the school. Our curriculum is underpinned by a values-driven approach that uses every opportunity to allow our pupils to develop curiosity, courage, collaboration, creativity, challenge and care.
Outdoor learning is central to all that we do and we make full use of our green spaces; whether that is our Prep pupils exploring amongst our beautiful trees or our Pre-Prep pupils visiting the bug hotel in their woodland classroom.
I hope that our website gives you an insight into life at Oakfield. The very best way to get to know us is to visit on an Open Morning or a personal tour. Please do contact our admissions team to arrange a visit and I look forward to welcoming you to Oakfield soon.
