We are continually investing in our buildings, playgrounds and resources to offer the best possible opportunity for all children at Oakfield to flourish in their academic and wider learning.
Here is just a taster of a few of our investments over the last few months in both our rooms and resources:
Over the summer break our Oakfield Pre-Prep building and playground underwent a stunning transformation with our library, nursery and playground being freshly renovated with new décor, furniture and resources. These developments have created an even more incredible learning environment for our youngest pupils and we can't wait for our *official* launch party later this year.
We were delighted to launch a new art studio in Autumn Term 2021 featuring new workstations, storage, integrated technology and a flexible layout so that the room can be adapted based on the theme of the lesson and the preferred working styles of the children.
We were honoured to welcome renowned artist Alison Pullen to Oakfield to lead an assembly about her experience as a working artist as well as officially unveil the new art studio which you can see in the short video below.
The children have been hugely inspired by the new studio as their incredible creations decorate the walls and space.
Over the summer holidays 2021 our Science room was spectacularly transformed into our new STEM room to host the teaching of the important disciplines of science, technology, engineering and maths.
The room is perfectly catered for group work so children can collaborate on devising, carrying out and analysing their experiments. Resources are available to the children to work across a varied curriculum of challenges which will test both their critical thinking and practical skills.
Honorary guest and ex-Oakfield pupil Sigourney Bell who is doing at oncology PhD at the University of Cambridge was invited to lead Assembly, open our STEM Room and teach a science masterclass to our Year 6s:
The walls and floor of our Prep hall have been refurbished so it is an even better space to host external workshops, performances and lessons that take place in the Hall.
Moreover, the walls have new display boards so we can have more eye-catching displays to communicate to both the children and parents the wonderful things that are going on at Oakfield which they can freely get involved in, so whether it is sports or eco initiatives, there is a world of opportunity available at Oakfield.
We have been making a conscious effort to refresh our libraries with books which reflect a diverse arrary of authors, stories and perspectives for the children to read and learn about.
